Is there any write-ups about doing it to the front end? I searched the forums and it didn't give me any answers. Also I need my driveshaft rebuilt. Is that something I could do at the same time to save time and money so the dealership can get money from someone else? I'm not to mechanically inclined, but I will be going to a local tech school to be a diesel mechanic and want to start with my truck so I can know some before I go in. Any help would be appreciated

You might want to consider this option...drop the driveshaft(s) and take to a local driveline shop. They will press the u-joints out and press in new ones for you. Then all you have to do is reinstall them. Most driveline shops will let you watch if you ask...
When I pull driveshafts I always mark both ends and the connection points (say transfer case yoke and differential yoke so I can put it back in exactly the same position as it was). Probably overkill, but so easy as to be dimwit proof.
This isn't to say you can't press out the u-joints and press in new ones, but I just thought I would offer the alternative (half way between having the dealer do it and you doing the whole thing yourself).

Thank you. I will try to find one around me. Would it be like a transmission shop or something else?
