Hello agian, I bought my 1973 F-100 2WD M/T, and the fuel gauge hasn't worked. I haven't had time to check it out, since four days after I bought it, The motor blew. Now that I have replaced the motor, I would love to be able to see my fuel level, especially with and Edelbrock 4 Barrel. If you have any info, It would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks
You may have to check the float on the sending unit in the tank. But first you want to look at the wire to it, look for cut/broken or possible came unplugged. Always want to think simple before getting into a mess of things and making it difficult.
If you ground out the gauge and it peaks, your gauge is good and it is either a connection, as above, or the sending unit. You can also do this at the tank to eliminate any problems between... Good luck!

I am working on my 78 F150 gauge right now. It does nothing at any time. I just disconnected the wiring near the tank, grounded it and it pegged. Does that mean it is for sure the sending unit?
on my 77 ford i put the tank that was behind the seat in the bed.gas guage wont work.when i touch the power wire to the groud the needle moves all the way up.i have it grounded at the back of the cab.
