air filter..

i did some research on the web and on here but still do not have a clear cut answer...
is it better to use the stock filter on our 6.0's or to go after market???
i understand the durability of the stock filters..... but i would like for mine to "breath" when it needs to!! any thoughts, suggestions, or advise

thanks

Our stock air filters have proven themselves to be top performers. They are huge, have little air restriction, filter well and last for 50K+ miles.

Why replace something that works that well?

It has been reported that the stock filters flow very well. Up to 500 hp.

So, your choice.

i just took a cold air kit off my 06,and put it all back stock.I will put the cold air kit back on because it engine ran free, and with the stock set up you can tell the engine is smuthered.PLUS i have never had any problems with coldair kits before, even with a few 1000 horse, turbo and nitrous fed mustang gt's

There's at least one 500 rwhp ride on this site who's owner still runs the stock air filter setup. Personally, I think you're throwing money away to replace the stock setup unless you're pushing well over 500 rwhp. Keep in mind that improved air flow is done at the expense of filtration unless the filter is substantially larger than stock. This is fine on a race application or one that sees few miles with relatively clean air since long term durability isn't the goal, but it's not so good on applications that are driven daily on variable air conditions (i.e., dust, dirt, sand). For all the complaints about the 6.0, the one thing they absolutely got right was the air filter setup.
