2v or 4v ? Stock intake or aftermarket ? 2 hole Plenum or 4 hole plenum or dual plenum ? single plenum ? all will act different...depending on usage...
How lean is real lean..white lean ..or light tan lean... you might have to jet up more depending on how you drive it ? until you get a happy medium..no sooty looking color but yet a darker tan if its in all cyliners.. also check the float level in the back bowl..it may need to be raised..you do know the right way to check for proper burn on the plugs right ? you need to run it up to say almost redline on your motor..and shut it off , with your foot off the throttle...
I had a similiar issue, but the other way. I had 4 cylinders running rich. I forget whether it was the front 4 or back 4 now. But anyway, could it be you actually have your front 4 running rich and the back 4 are OK?
In my case, I had an internal leak in the carb.
