Engine swap
Can anyone tell me if I pull my 4.0 out of my Explorer will I have to change the transmission in order to install a 302?

The 302 is followed by a different drive train.....as well as the PCM.....Philip

So yes, you will need to change just about everything.

I've read if you use the same year Explorer 302 & trans with the wiring harness & ECU it isn't a bad swap. If I find a rear ended Explorer 302 I will buy it. My 3.0 sucks in power & mileage
