Wiring Nightmare

1976 f250 So some wires were fried coming off the solenoid so we decided to do em up nice and put them back in their place. Now the truck will not turnoff after started. And to even start it in the first place i need to hook a random red wire to positive. Theres another random red wire that i can hook to positive in place of the other and then the truck will turn off but the light switch turns it off too. What is going on? Also i have an exhaust manifold leak. Can i just epoxy it somehow. Any suggestions on products to use or manybe a different idea in general?
