fuel gauge

Went to fill the truck up with fuel today before I go up north tomorrow. Stopped at the bank first and parked in a spot where the truck was leaning down on the driverside. After I left I noticed my fuel gauge wasnt reading correctly cause it was way down from when I pulled into the bank.Thought maybe cause of the incline. Went to fill the truck up and after fueling it up noticed the gauge still read under 3/4 of a tank. For the next 10 min it slowly went back to full on the gauge. Any ideas what would make it do that.

if you where on an incline the gauge will be off and it takes time for the gauge to read when it is running it is fine. when i fill up it can take 20 miles before it will read full

Leaving the truck running while fueling will sometimes cause the symptoms you are having. I have had mine respond slowly sometimes even after shutting the truck off while fueling. I dont think you have anything to be concerned about.

I always shut my truck off when fueling. But that was the first time it happend. That's the last thing I would need is a faulty fuel gauge reading going up north. For the guys who have had the problem before.after the gauge goes back to full does it read normal going back down.

Agreed...mine acts the same way,if I park in my driveway...I have more fuel when I leave for work. In the street...not so much

what you're describing happens to me all the time, i leave my truck running most of the time i fill up, and it takes a long time to read correctly. it's nothing to worry about.
