i have noticed that the # 27 and # 29 are coustomer use where is the end to tap into for accessory key on. installing air horns and on board air. i don't want to kill the batts with the air compressor when truck ant running. thank you .
It's been a while, but I thought there was only 1 wire fused for customer access.
You have to get down on the floorboard and follow the wires coming up from the OBDII plug to find it. It's taped to the harness, tucked up under the dash and has some heat shrink on the end of the wire. Sorry, I don't remember the colors.
thanks for the reply i didn't think it was going to be a hard ? for the auto electrical gurus witch i am not. would i be able to use an open fuse powered by accessory with a in line fuse holder ?? wanted it to be wired in the correct fashion.
If you use the customer wire, all you need to do is make sure there is a fuse in the customer access slot in the fuse panel and you're good. No need for a second inline fuse since the wire is fused already.
#27 is a 10A customer access fuse and #29 is for the instrument cluster charge and air bag warning lights.
Do you have ESOF, heated seats, or power seat/adjustable pedals? If not, those 3 circuits are fused for 30 amps each and all 3 should be hot with the key in the run position only. Circuits 15, 17, and 18 in the box under the hood.
thanks for the response. i do not have heated seats or pedals, i would like to use ether of the three under the hood (30amp). how do i tie into ether one of those circuits i must be missing something, is there a open wire or do i use a special plug in the block it self. thank you
Before you go hooking up things to the customer wire...make sure that whatever you hook up, doesn't draw so much power that it melts the factory supplied wire. Be sure that it is thick enough to handle whatever it gets connected to.
i think i figured it out, went to the local auto zone to get oil for the wife heep and asked about an in-line fuse do hickey and surprising for an auto zone she hooked me up. so now if i understand correctly i want to hook it up in the under hood box in the 30amp.the compressor that i am installing has a 16 amp draw at start up and 13 amp wile running so i should be OK . thank you for you help

30 am would be overkill. You usually want to go no more 50% above the draw. This will make sure the fuse blows before the wire gets too hot from being shorted.
Try a 20amp. Enough to run but will blow quick if there is a short.
