First Oil Analysis Report (extended drain)
I must say I was concerned about this engine's ability to resist fuel dilution. Because of known experiences on the 6.4L engines, extended drains were a challange on that generation, so using a superior lubricant could be considered more draining of financial resources, since the extended drain intervals might hover right around the stock ones.
I sampled at 10,000 miles, a conservative interval when using a premium synthetic lubricant with dual remote bypass filtration (I have done this many times before on many different vehicles since 1986).
BTW - About half of this mileage was with an AFE Stage2 dry air filter. This tells me the AFE system is working well also.
Oil was a 5W-40 Amsoil Diesel. Bypass filter details and photos are in a previous post.
I am happy to report, and a little surprised, that all numbers were good, and fuel dilution was currently 2.5% (I think alarms go off around 7%?). This indicates that my next sampling will likely occur at 20,000 miles. Ultimately, I will find the sweet spot for drain intervals on the new 6.7L engine. The sweet spot for my 6.0L was about 20 to 25,000 miles (though the limiting factor was not fuel dilution).
I am pleased with this report, and how this engine is working design-wise.
If anyone is interested in seeing the actual numbers, just let me know and I'll post them later.
