yeaterday it wouldnt shift into o/d so my fuel mileage went from 16.3mpg that morning to 15.2 by the time i got home...45 mins each way...
my buddy used it this past weekend to tow a car back from a few hours away and had it in tow/haul mode...i dont know if its just stuck in that mode (the light isnt on) but its kinda slips when it goes into reverse too...trans fluid levels seem fine.
Is it leaking at all? Mine started that way but noticed a drip first. Broke the snap ring inside and kept driving it becasue it snowed almost 2 feet and needed the truck. Drove for 2 more weeks and ate the tranny. Get it in and have someone look at it.
awesome...i was looking for something like that for about an hour before i signed up for the site (apparently not looking hard enough) but thanks again for the info...looks like i have some reading to do
Does or did it have a tuner or programer? These are all detrimental questions for the torqueshift tranny. It is a brute of a tranny and will take a beating but there are certain tunes, programs, and a lack of maint. that will kill it quick. History for it and the 6.0 is detrimental to their life span.
I was running no tuner or programmer when my snap ring broke and took out my tranny. I run one now but figure with everything done to the tranny it will hold up much better. I run Eric's and Matt's tunes. If your tranny has never had service then that is a very bad thing like 69cj said. I am surprised that more people dont keep details of service and things done. I could hand you a couple of pieces of paper with every oil change, fuel filter change, tranny/transfer canse service and new parts replaced or added to the engine. I know allot of guys on here do that also and its a great selling point for the new buyer I would think.
I am having a very similar problem. Except I still have overdrive. Mine has 86000 miles and I had a super chips tuner. I brought to one dealer ship and they gave me some bs on how I need a new trans and on monday it's going to another dealership to get a second opinion.
it has the sct x3 programmer...im going to guess thats not a good thing huh?
Actually, depending on who wrote the tune, it's a good thing IMHO. The Xcal reflashes the transmission control module which helps the relearn process. Switch on the fly tuners don't do this and are destructive to the 5R110.
took the programmer and put it back to stock...tow/haul light flashes...after some research it looks like i need to replace the transmission fluid temp sensor...gonna shoot for that and and do the filter and gasket...let you know what happens...

Hope thats all it is. Hope you had someone look at it as the flashing in not good at all.
