took the programmer and put it back to stock...tow/haul light flashes...after some research it looks like i need to replace the transmission fluid temp sensor...gonna shoot for that and and do the filter and gasket...let you know what happens...
You really need to get it code scanned to see if the TFT is really the problem. Hopefully you get off that cheap. Unless you've had a catastrophic trans. failure there isn't a reason to change the filter in the pan as it's really just a screen anyway and the gasket is totally reusable. The real filter is at the front of the truck.
so looked up transmissions while at work and there are 6 difft trans' for my truck/engine...would mine have "power take off"?
IIRC 4x4's and CC's had that transmission case option. Probably best to take the VIN to the dealership and determine that although I doubt your truck has a power take off. That's more like a work truck thing and yours is a Harley edition, correct?
just got off the phone with the dealership, and they said its a 5r110w...back to the internet again...
If you're looking to buy a transmission then the Ford replacement package is REALLY hard to beat. You can get the trans. kit for about $2600 if you shop. It includes new torque convertor, cooler, and a 3 year warranty. If you install it yourself (correctly) and have a problem with it during the warranty period then the dealership will do the repair. If you happen to be on the road somewhere it's good at any Ford dealership in the country.

No, there are not. There is a ZF6 manual transmission or a 5R110 (TorqShift) automatic. That's all that Ford offered behind the 6.0L engine.
You probably don't have a power take off. To find out for sure crawl under the truck on the driver's side. If there is a black sheet metal plate on the driver's side of the transmission that's the access hole for the PTO. It was an option on every truck with a 5R110, but very few actually had it. If you don't have anything connected to the PTO you don't need a PTO transmission. If you don't know if you have one, you don't need one. It powers things like a dump bed, or a hydraulic pump, etc.
not really...reverse is basically gone, every gear slips like crazy (sometimes) and it still wont go into o/d...found a rebuilt trans with a 3 year warranty on it for under $2k and im waiting to hear from the bank about a loan...my big beautiful truck is an ornament for the time being...
i just got back to work from a workmans comp injury, and wasnt getting paid for like 3 months (i got the truck while i was getting paid) and now im stuck in lawyer/insurance limbo waiting on the first of many rulings...fun times...
Well the dealership got back to me. They need to change the selinoids and do a trans service. They want to charge 1200. What do you guys think. Is something I can do or is it complicated.
