Exhaust leak
I have a exhaust leak at the y pipe on my 2000 psd sd 350 4x4. Dealer says they need to pull the tranny to fix it. Has anyone fixed it without pulling trans? I plan on giving it a try,if anyone has some tips? ford wants $600 labor for $8 part.

There's the part of the exhaust where the two exhaust manifold come together at the turbo exhaust inlet and from there goes through the exhaust wheel and out the downpipe. I fail to see why the transmission has to come out to fix that. Perhaps the turbo being removed would be more reasonable. I can see where the access would be a lot easier with the transmission being removed, and it doesn't take that long, so it might be better to go that route. Sort of like using one hour to pull the transmission and save two hours otherwise.
