I have a '90 F250 SC 4x4 with the 351. It has 170,000 miles. I just bought it last year. The engine runs well on the highway, but has absolutely no low end. I just about need low range to back into my driveway. I have the ZF 5 speed, and pretty much have to start in first (granny) gear.
I have a pretty good sized crack in the exhaust manifold on the driver side manifold. So much so, that I can see a lot of exhaust gas coming up from under the hood when I'm driving under load. The P.O. installed dual exhaust and it looks like there aren't any cats!?, or maybe there's a combo cat / muffler (is there such a thing?). Anyway, I have no low end, and was wondering if the exhaust is my problem.
well if your exhaust is leaking then i think thats where u losin your torque, i just fixed my exhaust leak and there was a very noticable increase in torque and my leak wasnt all that bad, so if your leakin bad fix it and see what happens from there but i think that i your problem
