Still sorry I haven't updated more I've been working like a dog, so no time for trucks. I forgot how awesome this site is. I haven't used it since I traded my f150 for my jeep.
Well I pulled the ds valve cover off but don't know what to do from there. I'm not sure what I am looking for. The smoke that i'm seein from under the hood is comming off one of the small pipes coming off the back of the turbo. Ziggy anyway you could p.m. me your number and maybe we could talk about it.
James...sounds like the up pipes from the manifold coming into the back of the turbo possibly leaking? any black soot on the firewall? A picture is worth a thousand words... grabba camera snap a pic pointing to what/where you are referring to on the engine...
James, How much smoke? If it's a good amount of smoke and it never did this before, start your truck and look at the donut connections on the up pipe's where it connects to back of turbo to see if their is fluid (diesel) coming from one of them and running down pipe (you will notice it most on first cold start)...this just happened to me, blew diesel from donut on pass side and it was a bad injector o-ring on pass side.
