"If" they let you take it for a check up. Read plugs, compression, pull wheels, check brakes, articulate suspension, run the codes & get a carfax too. I'd draw some oil for analysis if it could be done quickly, to give a real pic of the engine condition.
Question is, were those nearly 200k miles easy or hard? But in the end it depends on what you're willing to put up with for the price.
Not a bad looking truck. According to my VIN decoder it has 4.10 axles, with a limited slip rear end. I purchased my 1992 F350 4x4 w/5.8L engine and E4OD almost 3 years ago for $4200 from a private seller. It has 154k on it. The asking price is a bit on the high side IMHO.
As noted before, take a good look at the mechanicals, especially the transmission, in light of the 5th wheel ball in the bed.
Id pass. Its only an xl so no power options most likely and its an auto. If it was a manual then id be looking at it. You could always make a cash offer and see what they say, there's always a better deal, just gotta be patient and look IMHO.
It's a good looking truck, but I can't say I'd pay anywhere near what they're asking for it. If you go after it, I'd say make them an offer and stick to your guns on it.
Truck has high mileage, rust around right rear wheel, no power windows, locks and will need new tires. I guess it depends what part of the country you live in but there are trucks in better shape with less miles available. I don't think I could get used to not having power windows again on a full size truck, on the ranger I can reach across and crank it but not the 250.
Actually I believe there is a much better 250 right here on FTE for sale. Franken-trucks. Its in virginia beach but that just means ROAD TRIP! you should check it out.
