i am going to add a 3 or 4 gauge pod to the A pilar the ones i am going to do are pyro, volts, fuel press, and fill in if you have a suggestion. I have the scan gauge II and have it on EOT, ECT, TFT, and usually MPG. When i had my pickup in to the shop they said i had a bad fuel press regulator it was reading 42 psi at the most and should be over 45 psi. Where is the fuel press regulator at? and where should i tap into to install the gauge?
The Scan Gauge will do everything but EGT's, fuel pressure, and lubricating engine oil pressure.
Fuel pressure should be minimum 45psi at WOT. There is a regulator upgrade kit that you can install to help. I'm listing Ford and International part numbers:
Fuel pressure regulator kit 3C3Z-9T517-AG, 1843065C98, or 1854267c94 (no cover)
This is called the Blue Spring upgrade. At the front of the fuel filter housing you will see a cover with several self tapping screws. The spring is inside the cover. There is a complete kit with cover and a kit without cover. It includes the plunger, o-rings, gasket and the blue spring. The spring is stronger than the original (non-blue) oem spring. You will need to remove the fuel fitting on the left side of the cover, o-ring included in kit. There are some (extra) parts in the kit you might not need, so don't freek out. To install it, you will have to remove top radiator hose and possibly the charge air pipe to give you access. Looking at the cover, you will see a plug at the lower left of the cover. That is a test port, you can place your senson there. DO NOT Over tighten your sensor or you can crack the housing. Don't ask me why I know this, but the housing is damn expensive. After all that, I ended up buying the billet fuel cover and placing my sensor at the top of the fuel filter. The sensor with thread adapter was lightly touching against the radiator hose while in the lower test port. Yours might be slightly different, but that was my experience. My pressure went from 48 psi to 75 psi initially. It has since dropped to 68 psi at idle and 65-68 running. This is a very good and easy mod. It makes for happy injectors.
Different depending on how clogged the filter is....that's one thing you can verify is that the filter may/may not be clogged when pressure drops alot....
