250 miles/per full tank..what gives?!?

That mileage would be nice. I know I'm nowhere near that with a good sized lift on 35s. I don't think I ever make it through a whole tank without pulling a big 5th wheel, so I have no idea what my mileage really is.
I think the main thing is to run another tank through before worrying about chasing down a problem that may not exist. Hell, it could be as simple as a crappy tank of fuel. I've had that happen a couple of times on cars that I've had.

I asked 2 guys from work, one with an 06 f350, the other with a 2003 EX
The 06 said 15mpg around town, about 18-20highway
The EX said he hand calculated 24MPG highway....
So obviously something just isn't right with mine....
Bad injector? Broken up pipe? HPO problem?
I think from here its best if Ford looked at it.

All I can say is get it checked.

I agree 250 miles per tank something wrong
heres my milage
around town 14 - 16 mpg
long trip freeway 18 - 20
this is acording to SGII and overhead meter
hows the air filter
after I filled up the other day overhead deal said 400 mi to empty it wasnt compleatly full just the pump shut off at 100.00$ bucks

I'll say it one more time just because...
Unless you've done something that I have seen you post, you still have not calculated your mileage correctly. You are estimating it.
There very well may be something wrong with the truck, but until you properly calculate the mileage and correct the odometer for the larger tires, you're just guessing.

I consistently get 12 mpg and about 250 per tank. I've tried keeping rpm below 2000, with no real improvement. So I decided to just have fun driving it!!
I love this truck regardless!

One guy thinks he's getting extremely low MPGs. Another guy is convinced his King Ranch loaded with 1,000 lbs. of stereo (9,000 lbs.?)gets 20% better mileage than my 7,280 lb. F250 Powerstroke XL single cab FX4.
Ignorance and bovine excrement are the two themes running through this thread. It's knee deep and you guys keep wading in wearing nothing but swim trunks.

Honestly, I don't believe half of what people tell me they get for fuel mileage. Either people lie purposely to make their truck seem better, or the more likely case is that they are calculating it incorrectly. People that say they are getting 24 or 25 highway mpg with these trucks, sorry but I just don't believe it. Either way Tyler you should definitely be getting more than you are, but don't expect it to be as good as what you may hear.

I track my fuel expenses for my taxes.
Every fuel receipt I get I write the odometer on it, and I check to be sure it has the # gallons of diesel I bought and the price per gallon - most stations already have this on the receipt.
Then I stick it the zip pocket of a sun visor organizor like you can get at Autozone, Walmart etc for a few bucks.
Every week or two I enter the date, odometer, # of gallons and $ per gallon into an excel sheet. It only takes a minute or two.
I've been doing this since 2001 on 4 vehicles. On my 2003 6.0L I've been doing it for about 124,000 miles since I bought it 2nd hand.
If you're into tracking numbers and fun facts then with a little excel knowledge you can create all sorts of graphs and charts of $ per gallon, or mpg, or what ever over time.

Some of you number trackers might find the following interesting:
Since Jan 01, 2008 until Jan 01, 2011:
driven 102,516 miles
bought 6,110 gals of diesel -> that's an avg. of 16.78 mpg
paid $19,556
I had the egr delete done mid June 2010:
Since Jan 01, 2008 until egr delete on June 21, 2010:
drove 82,350 miles
bought 4,915 gals of diesel -> that's an avg. of 16.75 mpg
paid $15,949
Since egr delete on June 21, 2010 until Jan 01, 2011:
drove 20,166 miles
bought 1,195 gals of diesel -> that's an avg. of 16.88 mpg
paid $3,607
During all that time the most I paid was $5.099 per gallon on May 29, 2008
The least I paid was $2.119 per gallon on April 23, 2009.
So it looks like my 2003 4x4 6.0L SB CC with Michelin LTX A/T2 285-75-16 is holding steady at 17mpg. 50/50 highway and country roads. Ladder racks and some small winter plowing.

So I know my truck gets about 13mpg overall. One time I got almost 21mpg, and over 700 miles on a tank. ONE TIME!
I also know that 100% commuting I get right at 10mpg. Always has, and hasn't changed, so nothing is "wrong" with the truck. Commuting for me is a 2.5 mile drive, 4 times a day, to/from work.
For those who get great mileage, I'm skeptical, or I'm happy for you, depending on my mood. Makes no difference either way. Just don't go around blowing each other and criticizing trucks that don't get those unbelievable numbers.
