Yip, the Ozarks (north of the river) and the Ouachitas (south of the river) offer some pretty country in this part of the world. The Ozarks are mostly hard woods where as the Ouachitas are pines/softwoods. If your a car nut and wouldn't mind watching all kinds (versions/generations) of Corvettes...Eureka Springs the first weekend of October is the place to be. If you want to have a grand time some weekend...follow either Hwy 23 or Hwy 7 between Hwy 412 and I-40. The end of October/early November would be my suggestion for good tree color.
I know I'm going to get some more infraction points now...not only have I bashed the spammers but I was talking about Chebbys on here.

Thats good to know.
Going to play some paintball today. Hopefully non of us stroke out from heat.
I took the family up to Jasper last week for a mini vacation. We went up Hwy 7 all the way from home. Nice drive in the Supercrew! It may be a bad fall for the colorful leaves I saw a lot of brown trees up there. We went on up to the Lead Hill area and checked out a castle that is being built with the methods used in the 13th century. It was pretty neat.
thanks for the info.... have to take the lovely misses on a "lets go look at the friggin leaves change colors" tour....... kinda owe her....... but the castle build sounds much more interesting...
Morning gentlemen, bring on some more rain please!

Is there anything left of the old DogPatch tourist trap? My folks took us up there as kids back in the early '80s. I remember riding a boat like log ride, some kind of centrifugal barrel ride ans some kind of roller coaster...but almost 30 years later the details are fuzzy in my brain.
I was down in Mena yesterday on a errand/chore for my wife. To say it's going to be a rough "season" for colors would be an understatement. There was allot of trees that were already brown. I'm surprised they haven't lost the leaves yet.

I've heard about this castle project they've got going up there. How many years are they thinking it's going to take them to build it?
There are some buildings and parts of rides left at Dogpatch but it is all overgrown. The castle is supposed to be finished by 2030. The website has their hours of operation and prices for admission. It also has a lot of info about the project. After the guided tour I spent most of my time hanging out in the blacksmith's shop. The blacksmith was making a sword and he let my boys pump the bellows for him. It was pretty cool!
