Okay I see what you mean. Yea I do have the projector headlights with my HID's it does "strighten" the beam and makes it look "cleaner" I agree. I think the cost for my headlights was $240 and the HID kit with the smaller ballists(which is extra of course)for $140. But thats in my car(Mk4 Jetta GLI).

I'll stick with my $40 Silverstars. Plenty bright enough and not a stupid looking blue color.

I've got true HIDs in the head & fogs both in my '11. I had the same set up in my '04.
Definately money well spent, a local shop will install them for under $200/set

So did you actually have HID projectors installed in your Eagle Eyes or are they "as is" in your truck?

I have them sitting in the house waiting to be installed but I'm thinking of converting them to HID but wonder if I should just do the low beams or pay double to convert all four projectors to HID.

I still blind ppl ocassionally in my car and I only have the low beams as HID as do all my buddies. If your in a truck with HID's which obviously sits higher than a car there is no need for high beam HID's, thats my opinion.

So to clarify, you simply installed an HID bulb only; that is, you did NOT do an actual HID reflector retrofit at all, no? The HID reflector kit is at least $300 a pair or more and requires cracking open your head light housing entirely to change out the reflectors.

No my post explained at the top of this page I have projector headlights. I bought a set of low beam HID bulbs which come with ballists(HID Kit), which is necassary to have. If you don't have ballists for each bulb you don't have HID's they make the bulbs as bright as they are. You might have already known all that but I explained it a some just in case. When it comes down to it I guess you don't need projector headlights but the HID beams won't be as "clean" as they could be, which means more blinding ppl and the aiming willl be off and it just won't look as neat.

Okay, so you are basically using the existing "projector" reflectors that are designed for non-HID light bulbs but installed an HID bulb.

Okay, I was confused because I just noticed that it appears you have a '78 F-250 truck and I'm thinking since this is an 09+ F-150 forum, that you were referring to the current gen with an aftermarket head light but I haven't seen any such kit that offered an HID-compatible projector.

Unless you indeed have an 09+ F150 and did find an aftermarket head light set that offers both Xenon and HID projectors. In which case, may I ask which brand and model so I can research it further?

@shotgunz:

I just read that thread and it definitely raised my concern as I just got a pair of Eagle Eyes/Anzo's. Tho they are for the 09+, I am assuming the issue has to do with the lack of peripheral light spread due to the projector itself, regardless of the housing/model application.

I was already contemplating swapping out the projectors with true HID projectors (MH1's specifically), so this should solve any light spread issues with the stock Eagle Eyes.

Picked up my 2011 last night. HID's are definitely missed from my 1998 that had the sylvania xenarc hid kit installed with hids in the fogs. Going to get a bullbar and installed a set of fogs with hids in those aswell.
