I am parting out a 69 F250 Camper Special and have it listed on Craig's List here in Portland. I had someone call about the front fenders. I had them listed as CS front fenders. He wanted to know the difference. I said they had Camper special badges and lights in the leading edge of the fender.
He asked why CS have lights on the front fenders. I didn't have an answer. I've also noticed that not all bumpside CS have them, but most do. I've never seen a non CS bumpside that does though.
1968 was the first year for NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Authority) mandated marker lamps for all Trucks and Passenger Cars.
All 1968/72's have marker lights (yellow reflectors) within the hood side emblems, but 1968/72 Camper Special's have additional marker lamps (that light up) on the front fenders.
Up to '69 the front parking lights were only visable to the front. In 1970, the parking lights were a new design that also allowed them to be seen from the side. Eliminating the need to mount a separate light on the fender.

Since all 1968/72's use the same style of hood side emblems, all have the yellow reflector within them. All 1968/72 Camper Specials have front fender marker lights.
