My odometer is right on; only off by a tenth of a mile after nearly 200 mile post.
So how can it be that my speedometer reads about 6% higher than my actual speed?
If you have OEM tires the truck knows what speed it is going, it's just not showing that to you.
I can't say this with all trucks, but if I put my truck into engineer mode, the digital MPH is close to both GPS's I own within a few tenth's of a MPH because the display takes the speed 1 decimal place.
The speedometer on mine can be around 2-3 MPH fast with OEM ContiTrac tires.
I don't have the fancy display screen, so the engineering screen is foreign to me.
In the good 'ole days we'd check our speedo accuracy using mile marker, but in these trucks there appears to be a disconnect.

P.S.
stock OEM BFG's
I have the basic screen and engineer mode exists on the basic and optional message centers.

6% !! That is a very interesting number. My EarthRoamer has 335/80 R20 MPT81 tires on Hutchinson rims with a 4.88 axle ratio. These wheels are nearly 42" in diameter - way larger than stock. In order to adjust the speedometer, a "hypertech In-Line speedometer calibrator" device had been installed and configured for these wheels. Result: The speedometer is right-on accurate, but my Odometer reads 6% less than actual!!!
In your case, it is exactly the opposite - but also 6% off. Interesting....
