My 04 6.0 starts stumbling at around 45 mph in overdrive and will continue until i reach about 70 mph. If I kick down on it, it quits stumbling. cleaned egr yesterday.
My did that and it turned out to be an injector. Find out which one it is and it will take less then 2 hours to replace your self. Just make sure you get an extra long torx drive.

Did your truck also miss at idle and sitting at stop lights with cold motor temps?
not all the time. when i was just driving casually it chugged and had a slight lope at idle. but if i got on the pedal i didn't even feel it. Hell I even towed my 39 foot 5th wheel with it.
You gotta love them 6.0's
Ok DT. thanks. Had 4 injectors replaced 2 and a half years ago, also high pressure oil pump rebuild and all kinds of other stuff this shop said I needed to have done at a tune of $4300. I think I got duped on that one and will have to start doing my own mechanic-an again.
I have been working on gas engines for over 20 years and feared diesels but I got tired of being ripped off by dealers or trying to find someone in Sin city that works on diesels. So I started to work on them myself and learned that it is just as easy if not easier then gas motors
You are probably right DT. I did a lot of gas engine work myself. Complete engine overhauls and then some., But just looking at this 6.0 scares the hell out of me. But like any other engine if you have the proper tools things go a lot smoother. I cleaned my egr according to all the instructions I had found. That right side machine screw I was sort of worried about but a pencil magnet did the trick. I didn't need any special tools to get it out either, since I am a carpenter and many other trades, I had a small crowbar and a flat bar and once I got the two of them positions just right up came the egr. Thanks again.
It's a little intimidating if you don't know what all the stuff is but once you do and understand how it works it's easy... Just a plain ol v8 wrapped in goodies... I have an oil cooler in my future so I'll get aquainted with all the top end stuff first hand.. Once I figure out this "miss" or whatever it is.
Sam if you worked on gas engines then you are find as for proper tools. The only new tool I had to buy was long torx sockets for the injectors.
LSA i did my oil cooler about 2 months ago and it was easy. When you do the top end , there are 3 bolts holding on the turbo it is the back behind the down pipe and from experience make sure the y-pipe lines up perfectly with the turbo flange. I went crazy for 2 weeks trying to figure out why I had a turbo hiss. I thought I had a cracked y pipe. Thanks to some of the guys on this forum, we figured it out. DONT DRINK BEER WHEN FIXING YOUR TRUCK CAUSE BEER GOGGLES MAKE THEM LOOK LINED UP.
If you guys need any advice or help I am more then happy to return the help that was given to me.
