Injector question

Ok here it goes, let me clear my throat. I have an appointment tomorrow with the dealer on my ground wire recall 04S15. I am going to have the tech check my numbers since it is close to the May build date. If you have a bad injector Ford does replace the offending injector on that cylinder not the set. I have had no problems, would it be wise to just buy the improved design and replace the originals if I find the old design is in the truck? Has anyone else change his injectors to the new design?

I heard all kinds of horror stories before I bought my 7.3 the same goes for the 6.0. I'm glad I have had the opportunity to own both.

The Sky is not falling, the 6.0 runs just fine.

If it fails your dealership will replace the one that is bad, as for repalcing them all if you are a bit wealthy.......do it........they are very costly
Many, many of us are running the c94's........still...

I have the C94 injectors. I have almost 20,000 miles on it and it runs great. I run Stanadyne Performance Formula or the PS formula in almost every tank. I'll keep driving it until it breaks. I figure if I had a bad one it would have shown up by now. In any event I am not worrying about it. I suspect there were some bad lots not the entire design was bad. In any event you hardly hear anything about them anymore.

Steve brings up a very good point, we all believed that the c94's had an infant mortality rate in the first 4k worth of miles, few if any have had problems after their gestation period…if an injector can have one of those… isn't it like 266 days for humans...a bit more for 6.0 c94er's

Heck, use your truck Steve.... only 20,000 miles?

I have 28,000 failure free C94 injectors... however, I quit worrying becuase Tim and Steve gave me such a razzing about worrying, so I took up praying just before I start my truck each morning.... and it's working!!!

... and what's Tim know... he probably just hit 6,000 miles on his truck and he's had it more than a year!!! (ha, ha)

Leave well enough alone and do your maintance on time and check your oil levels.

Good luck,

Jeff

I am having separation anxiety attacks since I dropped the truck of this morning. I understand what you are all saying; my truck now has 16 thousand miles on it. The early injectors suffered a plunger side load from the spring, which in time (may or could) fail. I'll just see what the Service Tech comes up with. The injectors were used till 5/03/2003 is what I understand. I'll post what I find out, and I am not really worried about this issue, just curious to see what others might have done.

I had an injector go out in March and asked service manager if they were going to replace all four on that side since they would have it apart. He said thet they would if I wanted to pay for the other three and the labor! Needless to say I declined. They did however replace the o-rings on all injectors as he said two were leaking. I haven't had any other problems after that. I just make sure I check my oil level often. That is if you can see it on the dipstick!!

Results...Truck was built at the end of May 2003
Engine was assembled 03 march 2003
I did buy the truck used.......lol....had 9 thousand on it.

New injectors list price is 280.00 I never pay list, IH always has lower prices and then the Deisel shop near me has good prices on new injectors.

I have the latest flash, since I didn't really care about the recall, I knew he would flash the computer, my Tech guy likes me.... ....well he likes the truck.

Now if you read Fords article, some engines up to May of 2003 will have the injectors. So the only real way to know is to put one in your hand.

I am not concerned, just wondered what others felt about the issue.

I love the 6.0 and this web site. I'll read more than post from now on, since I am a newbie.

think of it this way, I have the C-95 injectors, and I have had three of them replaced already, and something very similiar is happening again right now. Am in proceedings to get "NEW" truck.
