Me three. All I have to do is move the bulb a little bit to one side in the socket and it turns off. I then leave it like that unless I need it for some reason. For the most part that light is practically worthless for my aging eyes. I have a big rechargeable LED drop light that I carry around with me and I prefer to use that because I can see so much better.
I've always wondered why Ford put the light on the left side of the engine bay. The crankcase and trans dipsticks are on the other side....
I got my light fixed today.I took the assembly off the tab on the hood and split it open. The contacts inside were GREEN with corrosion.I don't think ( at least in my 2002) that this light is control by mercury like the older ones were. In mine is a small silver metal canister and what souns like a small roller ball inside of it.When I cleaned up the assembly and hooked it up ( not on the tab yet) you could get the light to function by tilting this assemby one way or another. Seems that the ground end in the assemby was the worst and by me puting the test light on the + connection and grounding it on the hood, the light would lite up. Just thought I would pass this on as I called the dealer and he said this entire assembly was over $50~ it does light up the engine bay pretty well to just to check fluids if needed. Thanks again for the replies.
You can get a 12 volt light at an rv store for about 10.00 with a switch on it. Just mount it and turn it on when needed. They are nice & bright too. I put 2 of these in my work van for night time service calls

Good idea. Have you a link to these lights or a pic of them for future reference? Thanks
