Oil Analysis Advice

Ok guys

I have started getted my oil looked at by Blackstone Labs. I have sent my samples off twice since I have owned my truck (going on 8 months now). I have posted the comments let me know what you think.

Sample 1 comments:
WADE: Samples from newly-purchased engines can raise more questions than answers, and this is one of
those cases. After an average oil run, copper and lead read high. That may indicate bearing wear, though
without extra iron, it's hard to say. A poorly wearing turbo bearing could explain it. Or maybe the previous
owner used a copper/lead compound a few oil changes back and this is just harmless additive. Trends
should help answer questions. A trace of fuel is okay, and the TBN is good at 7.9 (1.0 is low). Assuming oil
pressure is okay, run this oil 2K miles before resampling.

Sample 2 comments:
WADE: Unfortunately, it looks like copper and lead are headed in the wrong way. Considering the shorter
oil interval that was used, both elements are reading higher on a per-mile basis than they were last time. As
we've mentioned, these metals can show a problem at a bearing (a turbo bearing, perhaps), though copper
can come from brass/bronze parts. The good news is that everything else about this report looks fine so if
you can find/fix the source of the metal, this engine should be a good one. The TBN is fine at 7.2. This oil is
good for another 1,000 miles.

How do I located the source of these metals? They mention the turbo bearing. How do I check this?

I dont want to randomly start swaping parts hoping to find the cause.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

As always, thanks in advance for your thoughts/opinions

I am not sure what they are talking about on the turbo bearring. You have a stock turbo in which the wheel runs on a sheen of oil.The 38R's have bearrings. You can check that wheel to see if it has in and out or side to side play.Maybe a little side to side but not in/out.
There will be more thoughts on this from others.

possibly, the "turbo bearing" they're referring to, are the brass bushings (2), that are starting to wear/go out...clearly just speculation, on my end?
