'97 Powerstroke Stock Exhaust.

Does anyone have pictures, or know where i can get a diagram as to how the stock setup is on these trucks for the exhaust system?

I'm buying a 1997 F250, and I guess the exhaust is pretty mangled up, and i'd like to know how it's routed, and where all the flanges are so I can make a new setup for it based off the connection flanges and such.

Much appreciated.

Why not just order a kit? It will be way easier than trying to patch up what sounds like a cobbled up mess.

Yeap thats a very good idea, and you can get also the new DP with the kit.

I honestly haven't seen the truck yet, we haven't purchased it yet either, but to their claims, it is the only problem with the truck, something about getting it caught on a stump, and it being torn in 3 places, but missing the vital components underneath it.

My wife and I have determined it would be cheaper, and economically cheaper to just slap a straight piped system on it, my main concern is the manifold/turbo outlet flanges, I know not how they are assembled, and I require some sort of visual to what I am looking at, and how I will plan to run it, so I can order the piping and get it mocked up, welded together, and bolted to the flanges.

I do appreciate your input greatly, as that was the first thing my wife and I considered, but with how our math came out, making out own, would be far more beneficial to our need on it.

The straight piped system is very common in the members of this forum, so you are ok, you just can buy a 3 to 4 " DP and then fab your straight pipe from there if you dont want to buy a kit.

You would want to go ahead and buy a new downpipe, and then piece the rest of it together from there. Or, you could alternatively just buy a kit.

Edit: Jose beat me to it.

Probably a bit different depending on the configuration and wheel base. What is it your looking at?

If your going to replace the downpipe, dont do it this way. use a saw.

are you looking for pics of an installed system??
if you just want pics of the system I have one laying beside my shop from a '96 f250 long bed extra cab. minus the down pipe. if need be I could take a pic of it for you.
