What is the stock size of the 97 powerstroke exhaust pipe?? the one on mine is 3 inches but I thought they were 3 1/2?

thats what I thought. I wonder why mine is 3 then. someone must have put it on themselves then.

wich part? an aftermarket downpipe will be 3" .THE rest of the system oe was 3 1/2...IF the rest is 3"....thats cute and adorable..

I think I would have to rip out that 3 inch and go bigger. I have a '02 7.3 now with 4 inch. Sounds good, especially since I lost some hearing in service and I like hearing my truck. A little more power and better coming "out of the hole". Whoever did the 3 inch must have liked the sound a real engine makes! HA! Good luck, God Bless, and thank you for your service to our country.
