Hi everyone,
I just traded my Nissan Titan in for a '04 Excursion XLT V10 4X4. Its a clean truck with 75K on it. Its the 3rd Excursion in the family, my grandfather had a '00 XLT and a '03 Limited. Love it so far. Pulls my 30' camper nicely. I also have a '08 Explorer, which my wife drives.
Great choice, nothing in my book compares to the Ford Excursion. I purchased my first V10 limited in 2000, and sold it only 4 years later regrettably. I recently purchased an 02 V10 Limited with 80K and I'm in love again.
Thanks for the welcome everyone! Its a great truck so far. Have a few plans for it already. I have a few small things to fix. One of the rocker cladding panels is peeling off, some scratches on the top of the dutch doors, weird thumping under the drivers floorboard over bumps. Nothing major. First upgrades on the list: DVD system, bugflector, vent visors, '07 grille upgrade, weathertech mats throughout (interior is like brand new and I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old!) K&N filter.
Does anyone have a good suggestion on dual exhaust? I have heard many V10's with duals that sound incredibly raspy.
Welcome to the forums. Regarding the thumping when you go over bumps, it's probably the sway bar bushings. A relatively cheap and easy fix. Check the ball joints while you're at it. The Ex is notorious for wearing them out. A 4-ton truck will do that.
Thanks for the info, i will check the sway bar ends. I did check the ball joints, they look like someone replaced them already, nice and shiny and have grease zerks(YES!)
