alright so my truck just died, crank no fire. so i figured it has done this befor it was the ignition module replaced it no help adjusted the timing no help, replaced plug wires no fix, so each of these things helped it went from no fire to running but not good and not for long, the only way it will run is with the coil wire loose on the cap and then it only runs for a few minutes at best the just dies, it has good spark and fuel pressure. so i dont know i am thinking either coil or condenser caus ethe longer it sits cold the longer it will run the next time i start it. need help fast please i cant afford to keep throwing parts at it till it goes need solid direction on what to do next.
How do you know its getting good spark? You mentioned the coil may be bad...bad coil= not good spark. Where is the timing set to? What motor do you have.
From what you mention, I'd inspect that coil wire itself or the terminal on the coil. If its original, its due for a replacement anyway I suspect. I got a set of MSD streetfire wires for my 351w and they only cost about $35 at advance.
Heck I did the MSD coil too, I have the stock coil sitting in my trunk. If you were local I'd let you have it to test.
ok so i replaced all the wires it seams to help but it still just runs longer but eventually dies and im stumped ive never seen anything like this. also had the coil tesyed at napa auto parts they said it was good.
