Heard a rumor that Ford used to put Stereo Amps in as stock equipment. I bought mine with an aftermarket Pioneer deck installed. It is an 94 XL so I doubt it had a high tech sound system from factory, but I notice my rear 6x8s put out about half as much sound as the front door 6.5s. Can put fader almost full rear before I even hear them over the fronts. If there is an amp, can I eliminate it easily?
I have read that rumor also. My 94 EB had the stock replaced with Kenwood deck. I have replaced the fronts with Kicker but the original rear work fine though not a crisp as the new ones. To my knowledge, there is no amp on mine.
I have read that rumor also. The PO of my 94 EB had the stock radio replaced with Kenwood deck. I have replaced the fronts with Kicker but the original rear work fine though not a crisp as the new ones. To my knowledge, there is no amp on mine.
There is an amp! On my 95EB it was under the glove box on the right. The stock radio had an error message on the screen and it had to be replaced(. It could actually be the amp that was fried or w/e)I had wired a new head unit in and couldnt get anything to work because of the amp. So i ended up rewiring EVERYTHING! It was actually quick and easy to do. I did however manage to find a diagram of how the radio is wired to the amp, I can upload it if you want me to.
I got to it this weekend, and reinstalled a factory stereo that i had lying around. Sounded good with oem deck. Installed my aftermarket deck and sounded even better than before. Must have been a setting wrong or loose harness, but now its good. Thanks for the replies.
