I would agree - you have to be careful with these 6.7's. I've taken off a bit faster than I expected twice in the past week or so. Once was in a round-about as I was trying to get out in front of a fleet of trucks (didn't want to be stuck behind them on my way to work). I ended up with a nice striped patch left on the asphalt..

The second time I went to pass a car doing 50 in a 55. By the time I was past the front of the car I was at 70. I didn't think I hit the accelerator that hard. This may be part of the "drive by wire" kicking in as usually it doesn't react that quick to me. Maybe based on my driving prior to punching it a bit it figured I was trying to pass someone?

In any event, these things will take off on you. Throw a lasso around it.

I caught up a couple of big rigs on I5 who were doing about 50 and since we all weren't too far from an exit I was going to take, I decided to stay put behind them instead of going around.

Then for some reason I changed my mind and since we were now getting quite close to the exit I put the spurs to her to make sure to get around both those guys with plenty of room.

Well, at lot less spurring would have been quite enough. It got up into the 90s so fast I not only cleared the big rigs but almost cleared the exit too and had to throw out the anchors to get her slowed downed enough to make it.

I must say that little adventure surprised me a bit but after calming down and changing my drawers, I was fine again.

If the RPMs drop after a shift, your out of luck and you'll have to stop and try again.
I do this fairly often when I know I really need to haul the mail, trailer or not.

In manual mode I roll into full throttle and keep the tach as close to 2000 rpms through all the gears. You have to shift pretty quick and the acceleration is soooooo much smoother and faster than driving in "D". The torque converter lock up happens when I settle down. Really neat.

H&S Black Maxx, It's a tuner. It lets you remove the speed limiter (as well as a lot of other stuff!)

Thanks

Yes, doing this process correctly allows for great shifts.
I've noticed when the TC locks normally, such as 3rd gear in [D], is what creates these harsher shifts.
Since this was a recent discovery, I've yet to try it with a heavy trailer; can't wait.
The downside to this goofing off created a regen a half tank early; oh well.
