So I did some searching and read some interesting threads but most of them didn't apply to what I'm noticing.
Over the past few months I've noticed that my truck has a very intermittent shudder under mild acceleration. If I accelerated more during the shudder it seemed to disappear until I let off the peddle a little. When it happens the truck doesn't seem to be lacking power and the engine throws no codes. It happened again today right as I had stopped at a red light. I noticed that it was shuddering at idle too. I shut the truck off at the intersection and the shudder was gone once restarted. Any ideas what it may be?

I have the same problem in my '04 STX F150. When I am sitting at a light I can feel a slight shudder. I have asked 2 different mechanics. 1 of those mechanics was at the stealership. Both have told me it's normal for out V8s to do this. It's due to the cam that's in our motor.
I also have the same shudder when I accelerate. It feels like its in rear end of the truck. I've taken my truck in and had the rear diff checked twice now. Both times I was told the everything looks good. One of them even said it looks like the entire rear axle looks brand new inside.
If you find a solution or the cause of this problem please post back.

Hello, I had a shudder with my 2004 FX4 and I used some ford brand friction modifier whic I added to the rear axle and it cleared it up in around 2 weeks. As far as the shudder at idle at a light I'm not sure but could be a lifter or cam like you said before. Good luck on your efforts.
If it is in the rear end and you have a positive traction rear end, the clutch's are dry and may need replacing. Most of the time it can be fixed with a change to a different rear end fluid. Good luck.
i have not seen too many problems on the 150, but we had 3 work 550's that had a similar problem and it was the torque converter slipping. the description sounds the same as our problem but hopefully it is just needing friction modifier. that is less$ and an easier fix
