So my wife tells me that there is a sticky goo all over the bottom of the driver's door on her '07 FEH. I go to investigate and find a clear, sticky, odorless substance all over the bottom edge where the weatherstripping meets the door. The weatherstripping has one noticeable hole and it looks like the rest is deteriorating. It looks like the clear goop is coming out of the weatherstripping. Any ideas? The stuff is very difficult to remove, as you can tell by the lint left over from the rag I used to try to wipe it off. It's only the driver's door doing this, all other weatherstripping looks great.

maticuno,
Don't quote me but I believe that Ford has released a Technical Service Bulletin regarding the weatherstripping on later model Escapes. It's TSB #09-20-15, if I recall correctly. I would call the local Ford dealership and inquire about more details regarding this TSB.
Hopefully the dealer will do the honourable thing and replace the problematic stripping for free. If not then they will charge about $95 for the replacement weatherstripping
Regardless, I wish you the best of luck resolving this sticky situation!
