I recently bought a 89 Bronco with a 5.8 351W motor. I gave it a full tune up, [plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor and pcv fule and air filters.]
Yet the engine still is Loping and missing a little. I dont hear any knocking and the old plugs were not corroded with oil. My Tach moves at idle from 5-6 a little and my battery gauge jumps when i turn things in the truck on.
Could it be im lossing power from the alt?
Does it sound like a valve, piston, ring or lifter
Pick up a vacuum gauge at PEP BOYS for $14.95 and test the system. Make sure your brake booster hasn't failed. You can lose massive vacuum through it. Have a great day.
pop hood in the dark and look out for sparks....jumping from plu wires to ground....
check your timing, also gran a propane bottle and run a hose from the nozzle to vacuum hose connections....intake gasket locations....if the engine speeds up you gave found your leak....
