I am helping a friend with a 2000 F-350 Dually. Engine runs fine then all of a sudden runs real bad. Found a connector in the rear of the drivers side VC, under the air intake to turbo, that has yellow wires running to it and seems to be the problem. If I push the connector together the truck runs fine. Let it run and it must separate then it runs real bad. Keeps throwing P1316 and P0541. What is that connector? What do I need to do to repair it? Where can I get the part. Ford wants $74.00. Seems like it lost the clip that holds it together, or never did have one?
Thank you. I need assistance in proceeding forward. I would attach a picture but my "manage attachment" is gone. My membership ran out in March, maybe that is why......
He has cattle to take and I would like to advise him to the BEST solution...
It is about 2" long black with yellow wires running to it. I can email you a pic?
Does the connector occur in the center of the valve cover with a bolt on the top of it OR is it along the edge of the valve cover where it touches the head?

It attaches to the edge in the back. See 1st picture please.....Thanks
Mike, that looks to me like the UVCH harness connection (though I don't know what you mean by "back"...to me it would be described as being on the top closest to the valley of the engine)...connects inside to injectors and glow plugs. Go look at post #42 of the thread I gave you a link to earlier and watch Darren's video. At the 12 second mark of the video you'll see the wire harness on the right.
I took a pic of an 2002 7.3L. The connector is in the same location as the 2000 just below the green tube with the yellow wires going to it. Does that help?

I took a picture of a 2002 to show you the location of the plug on the 2000. Do you know what the connector is?
