No, I ran out of plastic so I left it in. I cut around the rubber on the outside of the truck before I sprayed so when I install the new rubber next week it will overlap the new paint.

Wow, impressive and nice paint choice. It is nice to have a booth and all the equipment avaible.
Yeah when I got the truck about 2 years ago I had no clue how I was going to pay for a paint job. Not bad for $600 in paint

Very nice.
Where are you going to school at?
Does that school offer automotive restoration as a actual course? I'm a Sr. In high school and I'm looking for a good school to head in to for this type of thing. And all the big schools close to me are in daytona jacksonville area and focus on marine or motorcycles.
Im planning on going into the automotive field after highschool and eventually hope to do auto and marine restos full time. I had thought of going to a tech school but I only need one more year of work experience to get my ASE certification.
that one more year could be a tech school, I've known plenty of guys who are ASE cert and have no clue. I went back to school to learn body work and paint, after working for 5 years in the mechanic field. Remember work/school experience looks better then just one or the other. I've never worked on marine equipment but we did build half a boat in the wood working section of my restoration class and that wasn't easy. Like you
I plan on doing restorations full time, I'm looking for shop space now.
I'm hoping to get my ASE cert Asap, but I've got another couple of years.
I know where a shop is local to me, the guy running it is getting ready to retire so I hope I can pick it off along with his business

I'm glad you have something like this school and tools available, and that you are able to make so much progress on the truck. Keep it up, maybe if you start doing any other type of work on it set up a full thread. Always ask questions if you need thats what the rest of us are here for. Help or to help.
Well I replaced that back glass rubber today, it leaked every time it rained or washed. Next its the windshield but I'm not sure if I want to tackle that or pay someone too. That is a 5ft fire extinguisher behind it, biggest I've ever seen. With a few late 80's mustangs in the back ground.

I'm very lucky to be in my program, my instructor has been in the body shop business since 1959 so we learn alot about how cars and times use to be. I come here more to look around, I use the search and find mostly what I'm looking for but believe me if I cant find it I will ask!

Trust me shes Orange, I think the pictures look red b/c the sun was setting.
Im using the same paint as you just different colors. How well did it cover? Are you gonna wet sand and buff it or is it fine the way it is? Looks great.

I replaced the back glass gasket and front windshield gasket on my truck. My 2 cents - the back is a piece of cake. The Front was a PITA in comparison, but this is the first time I've ever attempted anything with windshields. The glass was already cracked in 1 place so that kind of swayed me into trying it. When I get the glass replaced now that it has a "couple" of cracks in it, I will take it to a shop and let them play with it. There is defiantly a touch to getting the curves near each side to sit in the corners without placing much stress on the glass. But like I said - never done glass before.
So if your windshield is in good condition and your only swapping out the gasket - I would recommend taking to a glass place. But good luck no matter which way you go!
