glow plug wiring nightmare

hey guys what i have here is a 85 f250 with a 6.9 diesel, the glow plugs have never worked since i got the truck and ive been doig alot of reading on here and have read some really helpful advice but i still cant seem to get it, now the kid i bought this off of just has his hands into the wiring way to much, wires taped off on random ends and spliced 4 diff ways and a wire that starts red ends up black on the other with orange in the middlei mean just a regular nightmare bad enough that the local shop said he wasnt even really interested in touching it and if he did it was gonnna be a big bill. So my question is i can see someone tried the manual setup at one time dont no if it ever worked or not but i just want to do the whole thing myself all new wires new switch EVERYTHING im tired of chasing this kids mess. Does anyone out here have a simple hand drawn diagram oor step by step instruction for a complete rewire? thanks guys id be real thankful if i could knock this thing out on my next day off.

Here's a diagram that may help. A manual switch is a really easy concept. Battery 12V to the relay, all 8 GPs hooked to the other side of the relay. Relay control runs up to the dash to the button. 12V power gets applied to the other side of the button. Press button, 12 volts hits the relay, and 12 volts then flows from battery to GPs.
