Some POS smashed my windshield
Some POS smashed the windshield on my truck while parked. Because of the F150 logo on the top, they'll use OEM glass for the replacement but I'd like to catch that vandal.
Looks like they hit it at least twice with something like a bat or 2x4. At least they didn't do any other damage to it.
Just noticed something when I went to get something out of the truck. Normally when you press the unlock button on the fob, both doors unlock and it beeps twice. Now it beeps 4 times (I've tried locking and unlocking it several times with the same results) and unlocks the doors (07 Scab). I looked through the manual and found nothing on the factory alarm and what it means when it beeps 4 times. Anyone know?

Man, some people have no ***** to do something like that in front of you. Sorry that happened to ya but at least it'll be fixed good as new.
Regarding the alarm, I'm not sure... but maybe it's in some sort of security mode? Have you tried starting it yet? Does it still beep 4 times? Is this the factory alarm? All our Fords in the past (2 '98 Expeditions, 2 '99s, an '07 and an '08 Sport Trac) never "beeped" when unlocked, just honked when locked.....

I hadn't throught to try starting it. It's back to 2 beeps on unlock. Still begs the question of what 4 beeps is supposed to signify?
Thanks for the idea. Don't know what starting it did but it changed it back.
By the way, using a siren instead of the horn was changed before I got it. The PO wired it to use an alarm siren vs the horn on lock and unlock (might have been a pro shop because it was well done). As far as I can find and figure, it's the oem alarm/remote entry (it's on the window sticker) and it's beeped once on locking the door with the fob and 2 on unlocking for the 2 years I've owned it.

At least that's one less thing to worry about.

I have a 2007 XLT with factory alarm. The 4 beeps mean the alarm system was triggered. In your case properly when the wind shield was smashed the vibration set off the alarm.
It is normal that when you restart the truck the alarm system resets itself.
I also have an extra LED light and button installed and hided under the E-brake release area. The light flashes in different way to tell me that what area of the truck was tripped ( door, windows or vibration) and the system can be reset by pressing the button.

Somebody broke my passenger window a couple of months ago and after that my car doesnt make any sounds at all when locking and unlocking....weird too....
i work for a company which deals truck and machinery parts, you can check how much a new windshield will cost. Hope this helps...

It's fixed
Well ins took care of the repairs and the glass company had to use OEM glass because of the F150 up by the mirror. Couldn't get it done till friday because every place was backlogged due to the number of heat damaged windshields. She even purred more than usual, obviously say thanks for not leaving me broken when I took her out today.
I just hope those individuals go elsewhere and leave my truck alone.
By the way I saw the receipt, $600 billed to the insurance company so windshields aren't cheap.

You likely have a directed electronics alarm, 1 beep on lock, 2 beeps on unlock, 4 beeps the next time you unlock it if the alarm has gone off and it resets after the ignition has been cycled.
