i have a 1989 f250 4x4. the problem started when i got in the truck this morning to move it, and in the process of starting it something in the ignition switch broke and is now stuck in the "run" position. i know i have to get a steering wheel puller to even think about fixing this problem. my question is how hard could it be to fix myself or is this something that i should take to someone else?
thanks

Check out the other thread running currently in this area with the same subject. I think you may have the same problem and this may give the answers you seek.
I never use a wheel puller. I just back the nut off so it barely clears the end of the shaft (you want as many threads still meshed as possible), put my knees behind it pulling hard, and smack the nut SQUARE with a heavy ball-peen hammer until it lets go. Then pull the nut & the wheel. :-) I've done it several times on several vehicles with no problems.
my steering is tilt. and after i think about it i believe i'm just going to have someone fix it. it's hard for me to get time during the week when its daylight to work on anything and i can't afford to have the truck down while i'm "trying" to fix it. thanks for the help
