Got it fixed, in no small part, because of you! By installing the gauge,(thanks to "bulla" for the video and instructions on how to do it) and using your "psi" info. I was able to determine the IPR was dumping pressure. Every heard of the electronic portion of a IPR going bad? I haven't. Anyway, gauge? My brother in law works at a place that deals with a lot hydraulic equipment, he borrowed a 5000psi, oil filled gauge and loaned it to me. Try your local farm supply store, they may have one. Sending ya some reps too. Thanks everyone for your time and input, once again FTE has saved the day. Dave.

Cool that you got it fixed. Now go enjoy the vacation without having to worry about your truck issues.

Glad to help you out. Just passing on some info I got here on FTE. We don't have a tractor supply store here but have some good hydraulic shops. I have not had any ipr failures knock on wood. IIRC Robin (Payson) had some experience with it. I'll shoot him a message. Have a good trip!

An FTE member had an inconsistent idle. It would rise and fall by about 200 RPMS. The only thing he didn't do was ohm out the IPR solenoid. At the time, I had four spare solenoids. The ohm readings ranged from 10.2 to 10.6 ohms, but each one was steady. If it was 10.4 the meter would stay steady + or - just a few hundreths of an ohm. His would vary between 10.0 to 10.8 ohms. I sent him one of my spares and after installing the solenoid his idle smoothed out. No rising and falling. So, yes, the solenoid can go bad. The solenoid is actually an electro magnet controlled by a 400 hertz signal from the PCM. If the winding resistance is not consistent it appears to cause the IPR needle valve to move back and forth which in turn changes the ICP causing the idle to rise and fall. Then the PCM tries to readjust the ICP and each adjustment causes the idle to rise and fall. It goes without saying that a bad IPR solenoid will also have adverse effects off idle as well.

Man, I wish I would of had a spare solenoid! I put the new one on my old IPR, and the truck idled and ran perfect. Put new IPR in anyway. Still running great. Although much more rare, I think we can add a new culprit to look for when someone posts "my truck randomly dies and won't restart", look for a faulty electromagnet! If anyone is in Meramac state park(missouri)next weekend, look for a blue and silver F250, that will be me.Thanks again, to everyone. Dave.
