Is it necessary to have my heads milled to use pushrod guides? I have seen in some magazines that they say some machine work may be required. Whats the real story behind this? Thanks.
it doesn't hurt to machine the guides down the thickness of the plates, but it isn't necessary.
i didn't do it and have had no issues at all. just have to check that you have enough threads to get proper adjustment and no interfernece issued between rockers and stud.
When you say machine the guides down, you are talking about the threaded bosses that the studs screw into, correct? I am about to take my heads to the machine shop to get worked on and I dont want any surprises when I assemble them. Thanks for the help.
to clarify, some people say that you should machine down the pedastal that the studs screw into down the thickness of the guide plate. other people say this is not necessary or required.
if you are taking the heads in anyways to get them machined, then may as well ask the machinest what he recommends you do. if he recommends that it be done then may as well do it as it shouldn't be that much money to get it done if the heads are their already.
