Spindle end-cap thread repair

As a new member, I want to say hello to you all and thank you for your postings. I have been using the info to begin the process of fixing up a neglected 1966, F250 Camper Special, 2wd, 4 drums, 352 engine that I got from a friend who followed a job opportunity outside the country. My goal is not to restore it to show quality but to make it a decent looking, reliable truck - which is going to take a lot of work.

What is the tap size for the grease cap spindle threads at the end of the spindles? I am replacing the king-pins and noticed that the threads on one end are damaged at the start probably due to a PO pounding on it with a hammer to remove the king pin. One macnine shop said I needed to special order a 1-1/16, 18 tpi bottoming tap. Another shop thinks its 20 tpi (threads per inch). I would appreciate knowing the corect size before springing the $s.
