I have a 01 ford superduty with 7.3l and a 5.5 inch fab tech lift on 37's. It has got a clunk in the front passenger area when I turn it will clunk one way and then when I turn the other way it will clunk back. But if you turn the same way it doesn't clunk multiple times. It has new ball joints and I have jacked it up and pushed on the wheels to check for any play and don't get anything. I have looked at the track bar while someone moves the steering and see no play. I removed the sway bars and the clunk is still there. I think its either the track bar or a wheel bearing but both look fine when working on it but when driving it clunks. I have rechecked all the bolts in the lift kit and there fine. Checked the lug nuts too.
Check your shock mounts, too. And don't be afraid to put a pry bar on the track bar, ball joints, tie rods, shock mounts, etc.. Sometimes things look OK and you can't move them by hand, but the added leverage of a pry bar can help pinpoint loose parts.
same problem here,, 4" lift and 35"tires .. but mine only does it when i hit a bump turning an low speed. 10mph. i think its just the front spring pack moving again. theres 10 leaves on each front pack and i think that clunk is just them breaking loose and flexing.. but if anyone comes up with another reason im all ears...
theres also another clunk that comes to mind. when you dont get the hubs fully engaged before puting down the torque. (like holding the brake on a hill while pulling a trailer and having someone lock the hubs) if the hubs arent fully engaged theyll be a veryloud clunk when you try to go again. (this has happened to me a couple times and now i know not to do it this way.)but this is an entirely diferent clunk
Noticed the rear bushing on the passenger side on the leaf (where the clunk sounds like its coming from) the leaf has shift on the bushing and is almost touching the shackle.
