calipers/hoses

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Dec-02 AT 07:22 PM (EST)]The truck is a 93 F150 4x4. This last spring, the outer pad wore down to metal on the right front side. The wear was tapered, bottom part of pad wearing faster. So I machined just the one rotor and put pads on both sides. Drove it all summer and not a problem. About a week ago it started pulling to the right when braking. Put loaded calipers on today. I noticed that one calipers pads were riveted and the other was bonded. Did'nt notice if the material was different. But it now pulls very hard to the left while braking. If the pads are different materials could that be the problem? Would a bad hose and sticking caliper cause it pull to that side? Thanks

take both rotors in and have them turned at the same time when you turn them
also if you put new calipers on do them both
and new pads do them all
check all brake lines bearings seals everything

if you figure those front brakes do the majority of the stopping in your truck why be cheap about it
id feel better doign the whole job rather then half of it

if the pads are different on one side to the next it will cause it to pull one way or the other
brake pads vary in how and what they are made of
ive noticed a big difference in stopping power if i use cheap pads
i usually spend the extra buck and they feel alot better

Put different pads in tonight. Found out the company that rebuilds the calipers are switching over to a different pad. So I had two grades of pads. The caliper with the softer pads applied quicker and harder, causing it to pull. Now it stops straight.

Hey Slave, nice to know that someone is interested in the small details. I dont wanna badmouth anyone ( mainly because I got the parts from my employer) I think the main thing is, check your parts out. I went against my better judgement and put them on anyway. It cost me another 30 mins of my time. I was able to defect the pads for a married set, so it didn't cost me. Later
