Probably close to the same engine output in both vehcles but one is 1000-1500lbs lighter. That's a basic physics lesson right there?

It is possible the AWD transfer case from an Explorer/Mountaineer would swap in, but while that will give you street friendly AWD the front drivetrain on these trucks(big, long, heavy, unbalanced, U-jointed drive axles) was not designed for high speed operation.
Sliding and controlling an AWD vehicle around is VERY different and actually much harder than sliding a RWD vehicle too, I know I have a Subaru and get to try all sorts of stupid things on slippery winter roads.

NiteSaber,

Have you considered buying an out of date 4x4 trophy truck or class 4 short course truck.

These trucks do 100+ MPH all day long in full-time 4 wheel drive.

Look these race outfits and they might be able to help you out, but it will be expensive.
