My fathers 66 ford f100 has a hipo 390 in it with an aluminum intake manifold which he said came off a 428. The part number Is C7E9425-F then there is an aluminum tag on it that says
428 69 6 fomoco
8M 418 S
Can any one tell me what kind of car this came out of? Thanks
Thanks for all the help. I did find a site that I decoded that tag number on and it said it was a 69 428 cobra jet .... does that mean its the wrong tag and someone just put it on there since it doesnt match up with the id number?

The ID engineering number marked on the manifold is C7AE-9425-F
You omitted the A when you typed C7E-9425-F
This ID number cross references to Ford part number C6AZ-9424-H
It's not for a Cobra Jet, it's for a 1966/67 Galaxie/LTD 428 Police Cruiser (P/C).
This info came straight from the 1965/1970 Ford Master Cross Reference Catalog.
The link that FTE member jhooch provided in post #2 also lists C7AE-9425-F as 1966/67 428 P/C.
The tag has no ID number listed, so there's no way to cross any of those numbers to a part number. All they relate to is the foundry that cast the manifold, the engine size. The 69 does not refer to 1969.
Only the ID engineering and part numbers list the applications, you cannot decode any of the tag info to a part number.
Sorry about missing the a in that part number I didn't notice tell you had already corrected me.
I realize you can't cross the tag #'s to a part number I used this site to decode the tag Deciphering Your Ford Engine's ID Tag - FORDification.com
it says the 8m 418 means december 68 428 cobra jet with a 4 barrel holly?
I guess what I'm trying to ask is did that id number change in the casting each year or did they just keep making them the same.....
Basically whats throwing me off is the id tag should be 400-405 to be a 428 police interceptor.
The only other thing is I have been told Shelby gt500's used aluminum manifolds and those 50 mustangs with serials beginning with 135 listed on the site Jhooch provided. But would those manifolds have used the same id number as the 66/67 galaxie police cars? Sorry about the rant Im just confused by all the contradicting info I keep finding on the computer.
