390 Questions

Hello all. I have a 65 Galaxie with the 390. Im going to change the intake and notice a hose coming from the intake going to a plate under the carb. I did some research and see that it is a vacuum plate.

My questions, can I get rid of this plate, do I really need it, and what is the purpose for it? Thanks.

A section of heater hose? That plate is a carb warmer if so. Should have two hoses, in one side, out the other.

IF one hose, it should be hooked up to the PCV.

Not sure if you need the carb preheat, but you should have a PCV set up.
