New Core Support? Sources?

Anyone have an opinion as to the best place to get a replacement core support for a '73 F100? In cleaning mine up for my rebuild, I notice some rot. Thinking I might replace instead of repair.

I see LMC has them for $129.95 + $125 shipping. Anyone buy a new one?

THANKS!

Can't help with a new one but I've got a good used one I can sell for a lot cheaper than that!

Let's talk! I am looking for a solid one I can paint, with no cancer. Not sure what shipping in item like that costs...

There are two different radiator (core) supports, they do not interchange:

D3TZ-16138-D .. Radiator Support-Use with Standard, Xtra Cooling and A/C Radiators.

Applications: 1973/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco with round headlamps.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
D3TZ-16138-B .. Radiator Support-Use with Super Cooling Radiator (S/CR) only.

Applications: 1973/79 F100/350 with round headlamps.

The S/CR support has a much larger opening radius. The top tank is HUGE, wider and deeper than the other radiators, and overlaps the core.

I picked one up once that came from a 6 Cylinder truck (78/79) and had to cut the opening bigger with a nibbler(It was already dimpled by Ford)...And used it in a 79 with a 400

I'm pretty sure mine is the standard rather than the super cooler, but will check the number tomorrow! Everything on this vehicle is bare bones, can't imagine that someone would have selected as the only option a larger radiator, but you never know...

Thanks greatly for the info!

Most of the aftermarket body places stock them. I could walk out with one from the keystone depot in Auburn the last time I was there. I bet you could get one locally.

It would help if we knew the general area where you are. I have a near perfect core support in my garage in TN.

There are 2 types - I have both here. Only one is for sale though. I'll PM you.

Thanks for the info, gang. I am in Lake Stevens, WA, about 45 miles from Seattle. I will fix my profile so my location is there :-)

I'll check out your PM too, grazie!

I'm headed to Seattle, Bellingham and Sequim over labor day. Too bad this thing is a bit big to bring as a carry on...

What to do, what to do! No sweat on the carry-on core support.

As to condition? Fixable? I can post some close-ups for advice. Most of it is in great shape, but has a tumour that I can stick my finger right through on one side at the bottom. I feel like I could cut it out and Ospho & paint and nobody would ever know. Anyone ever done that?
