So is it a reasonable theory that the blown EGR cooler could have lead to a rusted and frozen turbo? I will be happy to press that issue with my dealer because if that is reasonable, then the turbo IS due to part failure, and the warranty should pay up. If it's too much of a stretch, then I probably won't get far.

not a strech at all if its with a fair amount of time /hours/milage from when it happend.
also refer to the original papaer work and see if the tech list doing a boost/vvt test and what the relivent readings were. this is required of any repair performed under tsb 09-08-03.
failer to include that information may be in your favor as to put in to question if the repair was done inaccordance with the tsb.

Um as far as the labor goes with the quote I wound up replacing the turbo in my driveway on my excursion myself in under an hour and a I purchased a brand new powermax turbo from River City Diesel for $1250.

Soo if your only problem is the turbo, and they will not cover anything then I would go that route. Especially since its hardly worth the labor they are trying to charge. Coolant I didnt spill a drop of it. I did replace the fitting for the oil supply line but RCD can get you all the Ford OEM Parts for much better rates than the dealership quoted me.

Just my two cents.
