Hypertech Power downloader

My truck is a 99 with a 7.3 diesel with 205 k on it. Iwas wondering if it would be a bad idea to put the extra power to an engine with that high of mileage. Any pro's or cons would be helpful

That is not high mileage for a 7.3, but you can do a lot better than a Hypertech. Tossing in that programming and towing heavy can cause some serious damage. There are several common mods to make more power reliably, so spend some time reading the "Read First common mod" sticky thread at the top of the list. Basic mods needed to support hot tunes would include intake (6637 or similar), exhaust, gauges to monitor tranny temp and EGTs.

Welcome to the org!

Thank you for the input. I will take a better look at the mods page. I bought this truck a few months ago and was told that the hypertech is a cheap way to coax a bit more out of the engine. I do have a banks 4" turbo back exhaust, not sure on the intake, and i thought the programmer monitored the temps. Guess i need to do more reading
